Pilot Call for Proposals: LSN Network Workshop to Strengthen Research Collaboration and Explore New Areas of Research
Published at 01.03.2026
Leipzig is a hub for science and research, characterized by a high concentration and diversity of universities and non-university research institutions, and offers great potential for interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research. The Leipzig Science Network (LSN) is the joint network of universities and research institutions in Leipzig and the surrounding area. It promotes cooperation, fosters synergies in research, knowledge transfer, and infrastructure, and strengthens the national and international visibility of Leipzig as a hub for science and research.
What is being funded?
The LSN is a platform for identifying and developing new research topics across institutions that have the potential to grow into larger collaborative projects. Through the pilot call for proposals “LSN NetzWerkstatt,” the LSN supports the initiation of research collaborations. The aim of the funding is to connect researchers from related fields and to identify new, joint research topics. Topics that are relevant to as many departments and institutions as possible are particularly encouraged.
Funding is available for workshops that promote interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration and bring together researchers from LSN member institutions to work on an innovative research topic. The grant covers up to 2,000 EUR for event costs (e.g., room rental, catering, honoraria).
If funding is granted, the approved amount will not be paid out to the applicants as a cash sum. Instead, the LSN will directly finance the measures outlined and approved in the application, in consultation with the applicants.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applications are open to researchers with a Ph.D. from institutions that are full members of the Leipzig Science Network (www.lsn.de). A prerequisite is a joint application submitted by individuals from at least two different full members of the network. During the selection process, priority may be given to applications involving more than two full members.
