How can AI innovations be successfully transferred into medical care? What framework conditions are needed for the secure and data-protection-compliant use of medical data? And how can academia, the healthcare sector, and industry work together to develop solutions for the healthcare of tomorrow? At the 3rd KIMed Network Partner Forum on October 27, 2026, at thePaulinum in Leipzig, stakeholders from research, hospitals, industry, the healthcare sector, and politics will come together to discuss precisely these questions.
For Leipzig as a hub of science and innovation, the exchange between research and application is a key factor for success. The KIMed network fosters important connections in this regard and strengthens the transfer of innovative AI solutions into practice. The research network is coordinated by the University of Leipzig, the Technical University of Dresden, and Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, and is receiving 3.6 million euros in funding from the EU and the Free State of Saxony through December 2027.
The program includes, among other things: ✨ Presentations and panel discussion: “Using Medical Data Safely for AI—Innovative Approaches Presented,” featuring Prof. Dr. Toralf Kirsten (University of Leipzig) and Dr. Philipp Breitfeld (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf) ✨ Keynote: biosaxony e.V. as a point of contact for transferring scientific solutions to industry, featuring Andre Hofmann (CEO of leap:up GmbH) ✨ Brief presentations by KIMed network partners, including Bechtle, Inotec FEGmbH, and MITCenter – Center for Medical Innovation and Technology GmbH
