The first of a total of six research collaborations took place successfully on June 10, 2026
On June 10, 2026, the AM³ Research Cluster (Additive Multimaterial Manufacturing) held its symposium. The event was organized by the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK) and the Academy of Visual Fine Arts (HGB). The Leipzig Science Network supported the symposium as part of the pilot call for proposals “LSN NetzWerkstatt” which promotes research collaborations within the network. The AM³ symposium marked the kickoff for five additional events that will be held later this year through the funding of “NetzWerkstatt.” The collaboration between HTWK and HGB is a successful example of this form of networking and research.
The aim of the symposium was to highlight new ideas and needs and to bring together stakeholders from science, business, art, culture, and education. Around 80 participants learned about current developments in 3D printing—from powder- and ink-based processes to material extrusion—and took the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from Leipzig and the surrounding region.
The symposium was part of the grand opening of the new AM³ laboratory at HTWK Leipzig. With an eye toward the launch of the new degree program “3D Printing & Functional Surfaces” in the winter semester of 2026/2027, the research laboratory was officially inaugurated on the same day. In addition, the networking event “Research Meets …” took place, offering further insights into the research landscape and networking opportunities.
