From Around the World to UFZ – For a Livable Planet

Our member Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) has released a new film in which eleven young researchers share insights into their motivation and their work. The film illustrates how scientists from over 70 countries are working together at the UFZ in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt to find solutions to global climate and environmental problems.

The focus is on challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution – as well as the question of which scientific approaches can help shape a more sustainable and liveable future. The film emphasises the importance of nature-based and technological innovations for environmental and climate protection and shows how international expertise and diverse perspectives contribute to the development of effective solution strategies.

Through this film, the UFZ is also establishing its position within a wider societal context: it highlights that scientific findings and the commitment of many different people are key prerequisites for tackling complex ecological crises. The researchers featured in the film represent the approximately 1,200 staff at the UFZ who work every day to protect the natural foundations of life.
