A year of fresh impulses in the Leipzig Science Network: a look back and a look ahead. A year ago, the new managing board of the Leipzig Science Network (LSN) took up its duties – a good opportunity to look back on twelve months of joint developments and new dynamics within Leipzig’s science landscape.
Building on proven successes, driving new initiatives: Formats such as the Leipzig Science Club, the Welcome Reception, our working groups and the Leipzig Science Cup have been successfully continued and further developed. At the same time, new initiatives have been launched that will strengthen collaboration at our Leipzig site in the long term.
Highlights of the past year Key milestones include: - our LSN-NetzWerkstatt, through which we are specifically strengthening academic collaboration in Leipzig - the joint evening event to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organised in cooperation with the University of Leipzig - the further development of the "Dual Career Network Mitteldeutschland", including the careers portal - the successful joint application, together with the City of Leipzig’s Department of Science Policy, to bring the Forum on Science Communication 2026 to Leipzig for the first time
Our goal We want to further strengthen scientific collaboration at the site and develop the LSN into a shared platform for networking, exchange and initiatives for our members and their staff.
Our Managing Director, Dr Kathleen Schlütter, says: “Leipzig is home to an extraordinary amount of excellent research and many dedicated people who are committed to collaboration. My aim is to further connect these stakeholders and to translate our shared potential even more effectively into concrete collaboration. This task brings me great joy.”

With the LSN‑NetzWerkstatt workshops in the autumn and the Science Communication Forum in December, we are building on the momentum that has been generated and continuing to drive forward networking within Leipzig’s scientific community.
